Many applications in industrial automation, intralogistics systems or mechanical engineering call for compact and powerful drives. Drive specialist ebm-papst provides a modular system from which users can combine a motor with the gearbox best suited for an individual application. The Optimax 63 is a powerful new overload-capable planetary gear with high efficiency for the higher power range up to 600 W.

The gearbox is suited to practically all applications, whether for continuous operation or short-term peak loads.

The Optimax gearbox with IP40 (IP54 optional) degree of protection is very compact: only 67.5 mm long and 78.5 mm in diameter. For typical input speeds of 4000 rpm, the optimized planetary gear design enables reductions from 3:1 to 45:1 while providing momentary drive shaft torques from 9 to 109 Nm depending on the reduction. This capability covers a wide range of applications, including pump drives, systems for lifting, adjusting or sorting, and turnstiles (access control systems) in public buildings. An improved grease lubrication enables an efficiency of 90% per reduction stage over the entire temperature range from -30 °C to +40 °C for a significant extension of service life in battery-operated mobile devices with reduced operating noise and wear. The 40-mm-long drive shaft can support axial and radial loads of up to 500 N, so pre-tensioned belt drives can be mounted without difficulty. In combination with the electronically commutated ECI 63.xx K1 or K4 motors, the result is a drive unit that delivers reliable, maintenance-free performance for over 20,000 hours (L10). It is suited to a wide range of applications with strict safety requirements, including applications with impact loading or harsh environmental conditions. The wide range of reductions combined with the scalable output of the ECI motors gives users the ability to select exactly the right drive for their needs.
